Terms of Service

1. The service and who provides it

Ledger is a personal finance tracking service that connects to your financial institutions on a read-only basis, imports balances and transaction history, categorises spending, identifies recurring charges and presents trends and budgets.

Ledger is a service offering operated by LAC Tech. It is not itself a company or legal entity. LAC Tech is not a bank, credit union, lender, broker-dealer, money transmitter, tax adviser or licensed financial adviser, and Ledger does not hold, move or have the technical ability to move your money.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it current.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify LAC Tech promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Linking financial accounts

By linking an institution, you represent that you are the owner of, or are authorised to access, that account, and you authorise the Ledger service and its bank-data aggregator to retrieve balance and transaction information on your behalf.

Data is retrieved on a read-only basis. You may revoke this authorisation at any time by disconnecting the institution in the application or by revoking access directly with your bank or the aggregator.

Institution data can be delayed, incomplete or incorrectly categorised for reasons outside our control. Your bank's own records are always authoritative.

4. Not financial advice

Everything the Ledger service produces — categories, trends, recurring-charge detection, dormancy flags, budget projections and savings estimates — is informational only. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to take or refrain from any action.

You are solely responsible for decisions you make about your money. Consult a qualified professional where appropriate.

5. Subscriptions, billing and renewal

Ledger is a paid subscription service offered on a monthly plan or an annual plan at a 10% discount. Prices are shown on the pricing page and are exclusive of any applicable sales tax or VAT, which is calculated at checkout.

Payments are processed by Stripe on our behalf. LAC Tech is the seller of record, will appear on your statement and issues your invoice.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.

6. Refund policy

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. You may request a full refund within fourteen (14) days of your payment, without needing to leave the account unused and without giving a reason.

Refund requests are handled by LAC Tech. Email luc@lactech.net within 14 days of payment and we will refund in full to your original payment method, no reason required.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. If you are charged for a renewal you did not intend, email luc@lactech.net — we consider renewal refunds case by case and will usually refund an unused period.

Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable statutory right you may have under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction, or any refund obligation we are required to fulfil under applicable law.

7. Acceptable use

• Do not link accounts you do not own or are not authorised to access.
• Do not attempt to access another user's data, or probe, scan or test the security of the service.
• Do not scrape, reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source of the service.
• Do not resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties as your own.
• Do not use the service for unlawful purposes, including fraud or money laundering.
• Do not overload, disrupt or interfere with the infrastructure that runs the service.

8. Your data and your content

You retain all rights in your financial data. You grant LAC Tech a limited licence to process that data solely to operate and improve the Ledger service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your individual transaction history for advertising.

9. Intellectual property

The Ledger name, interface, design, written guides and underlying software are owned by LAC Tech and protected by intellectual property law. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own personal finance purposes for the duration of your subscription.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, third-party outages, aggregator or institution failures, or events outside our reasonable control.

We may add, modify or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Ledger and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if your payment fails, or if we reasonably believe your use creates legal or security risk.

Termination does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid. On termination, your right to use the service ends and your data is handled as set out in the Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that transaction data will be complete, timely, accurate or correctly categorised, or that every recurring charge will be detected.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LAC Tech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, missed cancellations, overdraft or bank fees, or loss of data.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Ledger service will not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LAC Tech and its personnel from claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice before taking effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, cancel before the change takes effect.

16. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at LAC Tech's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
